Sixpoint and Frankies to Partner Up?
Eater shares an “unsubstantiated and somewhat far fetched rumor” that “the Franks (of the Frankies Spuntinos and Prime Meats) are working in conjunction with Shane Welch of Sixpoint Craft Ales to open a cafe on Court Street and (yes and) a Frankies beer garden in the vicinity of—or perhaps even in—the current space of the Sixpoint Brewery.” Eater also notes that neither Welch nor anyone at Frankies will confirm this rumor, “but it’s something to watch out for. ”

A Closer Look at Glass Shop
Last week, we reported on the new Crown Heights coffee house, Glass Shop. According to Grub Street, they’re open and serving “Australian-style espressos ($2.50) and lattes ($3 for 8 oz.). No drip for now, but there’s also a selection of PG Tips teas and simple sandwiches (ham and egg, sardine) as well as egg specials in the morning… and in warmer weather there’ll be a 600-square-foot garden in the back.” Has anybody been in yet?

Where to Wet Your Whistle
The bar at Prime Meats is officially open, and Time Out New York posted their “wallet-friendly” cocktail menu — but TONY also reviews the well-crafted cocktails at the less-hyped Jack the Horse Tavern in Brooklyn Heights: “the Robbie Robbie, a cockle-warming spin on the Scotch-based Rob Roy, which enlists Luxardo’s cinnamon-flavored bitter, Amaro Abano, to spicy effect. The Dos Amentes (tequila, mescal, Cherry Heering, dry vermouth, lime juice and cognac-almond syrup) is a rich tequila drink that allows the spirit’s aromatic, vegetal character to shine through.”

After the jump: Eating out in Clinton Hill, CSA news, beloved butcher closes up shop in Coney Island, Dom DeMarco hits up the Pizza Hall of Fame, and the Brooklyn Inn adds more seating…

Good Eats in Clinton Hill
The New York Times wrote up 5 Clinton Hill spots — Locanda Vini and Olii and Maggie Brown, which are already in our restaurant database, as well as Joloff, Mojito, and Roosters, which we’ll be checking out soon. And in a post about this restaurant round-up, Clinton Hill Blog asks, “Does anyone have any information about the Nigerian restaurant that was advertised as going into a storefront on Lafayette near either Adelphi or Carlton? It has been under construction for some time. It would be a nice addition to the neighborhood.”

It’s CSA Time Again
Registration is open at the new Flatbush Farm Share at Flatbush Reformed Church (890 Flatbush Avenue, at Church Avenue). “Costs are staggered according to household income: make more than $50,000 and pay $545 for enough produce to feed three or four people (or $275 for half as much food); prices go down from there,” Grub Street reports. (Note: This is a CSA and has nothing to do with the restaurant Flatbush Farm.) For more info about CSAs near you, check out the neighborhood listings on Just Food.

Quick Bites
Yesterday, Jimmy Prince of Major Prime Meat Market on Mermaid Avenue closed up shop. Gothmaist reports: “Coney Island neighbors filled the place: some brought snacks, like plates of cookies and cake. Others cried.” … Grub Street notes that Dom DeMarco of Di Fara has been inducted into the Pizza Hall of Fame… Eater says: “The perennially cramped Brooklyn Inn opened its renovated kitchen-cum-seating area where the jukebox once was. Music lovers, don’t despair. They just moved the jukebox to the back room. In its stead, 25 seats and–gasp!–tables have been added. (Must have been a big jukebox.)”

  1. Cafe’ Shane has a wonderful down to earth vibe, with charming staff. I’ve had breakfast there a few times, and the homefries are delicious. The food is great and doesn’t burn a hole into your wallet. So if you’re looking for a peacful inviting place to have a sip of Coffee,or to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner try Cafe’ Shane.

  2. about that “‘wallet-friendly’ cocktail menu” at Prime Meats – that’s because their drinks are the size of a thimble. They’re good though…but I think “wallet-friendly” is a little deceiving.

  3. I went into Glass Shop yesterday morning and absolutely loved it. I live four blocks away and it’s not exactly on the way for me in the morning, but I’ll definitely change my commute to accomodate a cup of this coffee. No drip is a drag, but La Colombe makes for great espresso. The barista, Francesco, was a real delight, as well. I’m looking out for the backyard space in the summer.
