The Return of the Sun Brings Literary Crowds to the Brooklyn Book Festival (Photos)

The weather made a dramatic turnaround in time for the Brooklyn Book Festival on Sunday. Literary enthusiasts crowded into Columbus Park to chat with publishers, authors, and vendors, snap up some new reading material, and enjoy the sunshine after the intense rain of the week.
The park was lined with white-tented booths and there were three outdoor stages for author conversations, a nice return after rain cancelled last year’s outdoor events. Author talks this year were also hosted at nearby indoor venues including Brooklyn Law School, Borough Hall, and the newly opened Center for Brooklyn History.
Festival Day capped off a full week of in-person and virtual events for the annual festival. Joyce Carol Oates, Walter Mosley, Philip Lopate, Colson Whitehead, Jacqueline Woodson, and Emma Straub were among the participants during the run of the event.
