Yesterday Gothamist reported that Boardwalk Empire would be filming at the old Gage and Tollner spot on Fulton, where Arby’s closed its doors in August. And indeed there was a crew outside, although the windows were all papered up and we couldn’t see inside. We would have freaked had we seen Steve Buscemi, but the only actors hanging around were a few extras, outfitted in period clothes.

  1. “ Not to say Atlantic City doesn’t have anything historic, most of it’s buildings are just run down shells. Hence why we need to preserve historic interiors like Gage and Tollner’s which is landmarked.”

Being a landmark doesn’t stop an owner from going broke and abandoning a building.

  2. There was a great scene shot in Boro Hall. In the large room with columns at the head of the Cadman Park steps. Looked gorgeous. Unfortunately whenever someone is trying to capture Brooklyn in a film, they chose the ugliest locations and interiors possible.

  3. It is a great series. I love it. Violence connected to the distribution of banned substances, in this case booze, is not something that is new. Smart criminals will organize themselves into syndicates and law enforcement will sink to the depth of the criminals they seek.

  4. Alas, poor Gage & Tollner’s. I’ll believe that the much-touted uplift of the Fulton Pseudo-Mall has begun in earnest when a decent tenant, and not some fast-food chain, arrives to buff up this gem and make it shine again (and profitable again).
