Merry snow day!
DeLepp: I’m on Clinton Ave to the north and we have enormous drifts in the yard!
Fortunately there’s a guy on the block who always shows up to shovel. It takes hours to get the sidewalk and building walkway cleared.
Do we need to have him rake the snow off the grass?
Sorel Boots are AMAZING for this weather. You wont win any fashion awards, but they keep you dry and warm no matter what!
Snappy, you could get a pair and glitterize them!
Benson, I’m further south near Trenton’s inner ring suburbs (which are quite nice streetcar suburb homes) My elementary school years were spent in a fairly stately Victorian, complete with stained glass windows and a wonderful fireplace but the folks moved during the later years of my adolescence to a generic postwar development of cookie-cutter cape cods. Of course, I rebelled.
The original woodwork is a bit unique in the kitchen, it’s kitschy like Leave it to Beaver. Decorative iron knobs on the cabinets but they’ve aged poorly. It’s homey for what it’s worth but it’s no brownstone.
This is the first year in many years that I actually have boots! They are not very warm but made a huge difference (duh!) in my snowshoveling experience yesterday. What I know about what’s going on out there is from looking out the window from the floor over the parlor. Noonish, I’ll go outside and shovel. Bedstuymaven, glad you are being dug out. Our side of the street (east) has a lot more snow than the other side. Fortunately there is an empty lot next to us so I can push the snow that way when I shovel the steps.

I parked my car yesterday in the Richard Meier Bldg parking lot.
Despite the bad architecture.
Triumph of practicality over aesthetics.
