Denton, this is the key. There is no conflict of interest with the exchanges and in fact the self-regulatory activity is very serious. The US exchanges themselves were given discretion in determining limits in expanding derivative limits for entities involved in trading physical material. This has worked very well and has been in place for 15+ years (any ‘expert’ who is “rocked” by this information, I don’t take seriously). Now due to politically inspired “witch-hunts” on all derivative trading activity, the CFTC may be going back to placing hard limits, and then the exchanges will have some discretion in giving exemptions. This is all highly scrutinized. There is no way this kind of physical drain can happen from taking exchange deliveries and there is not any motivation from exchange officials to allow for one entity to corner the market.
That is not to say the Chinese government is not accumulating gold. All Central Governments are. AND it is not saying that gold and precious metals are not going up. I can’t say about other topics, but I have read commodity articles on Seeking Alpha and they are not written by knowledgeable.
the why, when I waded this morning it was a little surreal. No snow on yard next door but I was hip deep walking out this morning and it was cold to boot! The wind howled all night between my bldg and coops next door. Nice to see the icicles though.

Ok – report from SS. 21st street NOT PLOWED AT ALL! snow up to the tops of cars. Hubby went out with a neighbor and shoveled out our condo which was nice – he reports snow is light and fluffy but would prefer a snow blower! – haaaaaaaaa
