We were right with our last rumor about the future of the Gage & Tollner space at 374 Fulton Street so we’ll plow ahead with this next unconfirmed dispatch: We’re hearing that the prospective tenant for the historic eatery is a fast food chain of some sort. No names yet, but we’re told that it’s a company that currently does not have a presence in the city. Because the interior is landmarked, the deal is contingent upon LPC approval. Sounds like a very bad idea to us. Anyone care to guess what chain it is? Quelle horreur!

Ha, I can’t imagine a store with “cracker” in its name opening up on the Fulton Mall. It has to be a place that does all its business by 4:00 PM. I say it will be an international house of pancakes.

I am thinking either Cracker Barrel or Cheesecake Factory – they both could make the interior work for them! Sad, but true!
