Another Five Guys Coming, This One to Cobble Hill

A reader said there’s been talk of a Five Guys coming into the under-construction storefront at 266 Court Street, near the corner of Butler, and this speculation is confirmed by the burger chain’s website, which says it’s “coming soon.” (There’s also one in the works at 2 Metrotech.) The reader who tipped us off to this isn’t wild about the opening: “I live very close and fast food places don’t seem to enhance a neighborhood. I am very upset. Does anyone else feel this way.” Do you? GMAP
I am *not* a fan of the Oxcart burger (though, I’m a fan of the place itself.) They weird. Strangely soft and bits of gristle. I’ve tried it twice (fairly recently) hoping it was a bad day.
Agreed g10, I’ll be happy to see the end of the Great Burger Blitz of 2010-2011.
That said, I had a SUPERB burger and fries this weekend at The Oxcart Tavern on Newkirk Avenue in Ditmas Park.
sounds good no complaints here…
On another note when is Boerum and Cobble going to get a good sports bar… I mean seriously we only have Downtown Bar and Grill…
I would welcome it in Clinton Hill.
Bah!
Am sooooo over the “burger craze”
I’d like to see a Macaroni and Cheese style place!
As a frequent denizen of Court Street, I welcome 5 Guys, although I agree with MM’s assessment of their relative fun, speed and value. There’s room for everybody here.
I wouldn’t mind if the burgers were actually good.
And I’m not sure exactly where the peanut allergy comment comes from . You’re going to get a lot of kids in a burger place in Cobble Hill. Allergies or no allergies. It’s not like the buns are made out of peanuts.
Now I know where to go when the line at the future Shake Shack is too long.
I’ve been to a 5 guys maybe twice. Fun with the peanuts, and the meal comes with enough french fries for four people, but it certainly wasn’t fast, and it wasn’t cheap, either. They must need the money for all of the spuds that are going to waste, which bothers me. The burger was fine, but nothing to write home about. They’ll probably do well here.
