We biked past this make-over at 365 Dean Street a couple of weeks ago. We couldn’t decide how we felt about it then and still can’t make up our minds. The market has spoken pretty clearly about its price though: The two-family started out asking $2,300,000 last November and it’s now down to $1,389,000, according to StreetEasy. What do you think of the design? Update: A commenter points out that the old price included the vacant lot next door, so not a big price cut after all. GMAP

  1. I’d offer $1.5 for the house and lot together.

    Then I would build my own little carriage house style garage (curb cut be damned, I ride a Vespa, the pedestrian cut on the corner is all I need 😉 ).

  2. In passing this, I wasn’t sure if the design choices were made to look modern or b/c they were done on the cheap. I think the aluminum siding and the windows on the left look interesting, but wonder what happens if and when the lot next door is sold separately. Bye bye windows I guess.

  3. prime re-max listing

    broker = “hot parkslope”. LIE.

    broker = “make all offers”. desperate.

    house = ticky tack but livable in a fugly way (ie rental)

    location = questionable

    photos = 1

    and that’s how you earn $80k commission.

    stay thirsty my friends.

  4. The exterior is OK I guess. Doesn’t really matter though. All depends on what they did inside: minamalist clean lines, robust industrial chic, or Home Depot (flipper’s delight) schlock?
