Owners are concerned that renovating their late 19th century, two-family house will be complicated by the fact that there is no certificate of occupancy. They will be making some plumbing and electrical changes, but are hoping that as long as they don’t increase the number of kitchens or change the egress will they be able avoid having to get a C of O. Are there any other issues involved in this type of renovation?
Please chime in with your advice.
