Special windows appear to be in store for a new rental building going up on Tompkins Avenue not far from Herbert Von King Park in Bed Stuy.

Developer Vision Development recently revealed a rendering that shows marbled purple glass in tiny mullions, giving the panes the appearance of old glass that has turned lavender with age.

Ordinary window glass is planned, possibly with many small panes, in fact. The purple haze is just the artist’s interpretation, Vision Development Director of Operations Baruch Guttman told Brownstoner.

Otherwise, the 14-unit rental at 290 Tompkins Avenue also has brick, balconies and bold geometric panels on its facade. The latter will be finished in metallic stucco, Guttman said.

The building has been in the works since 2014, when the first permit application was filed.

The six-story building will have parking for seven cars and three apartments per floor except on the sixth floor, where there will be two units, according to DOB filings.

The property has been an empty lot since at least 2013. In the 1980s, it held a three-family over a store with a restaurant on the ground floor, an old tax photo shows.

An LLC called 232 Vernon Management LLC picked up the lot for $375,000 in 2014, public records show.

The architect of record is M.S. Savani Architect of Queens.

Established in 2006, Vision Development has developed a number of medium sized apartment buildings in Brooklyn, especially in Williamsburg, where it is based.
