I have to agree with Heather. There is virtually no connection between Philly and NY, so I don’t know where Mr. B. gets the idea that it is the “6th borough”.
Years ago the joke used to be that Miami, Florida was the 6th borough because so many ex-NY’ers were there. Nowadays, the most apt place to call the 6th borough might be Monmouth County, NJ. Many ex-Brooklynites live there (distasteful as it might be for some on this site to admit).
I second the name “Rowhouser”, and I also agree that Montrose gave the site a real shot in the arm when she guest-hosted.
Not sure about the “brand.” No one I know who lives in Philly, even the “architectually aware” have ever heard of brownstoner.
You could hire Montrose as a permanent editor, and call the Philly site “Rowhouser, a brownstoner(tm) site.”
Or, you know, whatever you think best.
A brand is a brand…at a certain point it transcends literalism. Just like Brownstoner in Brooklyn isn’t just about brownstones.

Yeah, I know, Dave. That’s my old neighborhood though — which is somewhat like Brooklyn is to Manhattan on a much, much smaller scale.
I had a friend growing up with a house in Center City that had marble floors on the parlour level. Actually, I think that one WAS a brownstone.
Heather, those listings are great.
But they are very far west, not Center City. i think even center City would make people up here jealous.
Sorry, we’ve spent five years building a brand name so we’re not going to bail on it now!
I like Rowhouser too but c’mon, Brownstoner is the brand.
And aside from being all about community, it’s all about brand.

You ever had a cheesesteak up here in NYC????????
THIS IS A VERY BAD IDEA TO KEEP THE NAME.
Here’s a real estate agent with some Philly listings to make us Brooklynites cry…

And, yeah, branding is good. Just — you’re going to be the New York City site with a name like brownstoner.
