15 prospect park west park slope 112014

It’s quite the morning for Park Slope townhouse news. Now the mansion at 17 Prospect Park West, which Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany once called home, is in contract. It was asking $14,000,000. We don’t know what it’s in contract for, of course, but if it’s more than $12,500,000, it will eclipse 70 Willow Street and set a record for all of Brooklyn. Curbed was the first to report the deal.

  1. Prospect Park West would be the most desirable street in Brooklyn to me if people didn’t have to put up with the speeding and distracting traffic that travels down that street.

  2. They sure don’t. And they don’t seem to mind the traffic on PPW either. Still, I simply made a subjective point about why I don’t consider this street to be Brooklyn’s most desirable. I understand that not everyone will agree with me generally or even with some of the issues that I have with PPW.

  3. Traffic that doesn’t distract (as in you don’t hear it in your homes for it to disturb you/make a difference in quality of life). For many side streets, distracting traffic won’t be as much of an issue, if only due to relatively low volume of vehicular traffic on these streets. But Prospect Park West, a significant roadway with a public bus route, isn’t one such street. Granted, many people don’t have a problem with the noise level on Prospect Park West, but this post is about my opinion of things.
