This four-story home at 102 St. Marks Avenue is a classic Italianate brownstone with original details on a nice, landmarked Prospect Heights block. Owned by the same family for over 40 years, according to the listing, it may need some updating but appears to be in good shape overall.

It’s got a garden rental and a triplex above. The latter has four bedrooms, two apiece on each of the top two floors, along with a full bath and ample closet space.

The parlor floor, which has some classic details including a carved marble mantel and plaster detailing, holds a living room and dining room. No open plan layout here — they’re separated by a closet and an unfortunately placed full bath, so the only passage is via the hallway. (Though if our predictions are correct, room definition is back in this year, so that shouldn’t be a problem.)

The kitchen is in a small rear extension. It’s not pictured, nor are any of the bathrooms.

The house is a bit narrow — 16.67 feet by 38 feet, according to PropertyShark — and the lot is only around 64 feet deep, so the backyard (also not pictured) is not full size. (The rear corner of a Flatbush Avenue building juts into the space, as shown in the layout). There’s a small deck off the dining room.

The furnace and mechanicals are recently updated, according to the listing, from David Carter at Brown Harris Stevens.

The house is listed at $2.875 million, which seems on the low side for a four-story in this location. How does it look to you?
