Remember last week’s House of the Day 87A Guernsey Street? Owner (and model) Josh Wald did not appreciate commenters’ opinions about his abode. Said the New York Times, in a piece about the online reaction to his home: “A look at the response to the listing of Mr. Wald’s home, which was featured on the real estate blogs Curbed and Brownstoner just after it came on the market about a week and a half ago, offers a glimpse into contemporary New York real estate at its ugliest. Despite the home’s stylish ingredients, about the only things that didn’t come in for criticism were the owner’s looks.” Wald bought the house three years ago for $920,000 and redid the entire thing, even adding a recording studio. Brokers said controversy in the blogosphere usually helps a home to sell, rather than lowering its potential sale price. And the price point, of course, remains a point of contention — the Times noted that if the home sells at its ask of $2.5 million, it will set a neighborhood record.
