An affordable housing lottery has launched in East Williamsburg for 10 units in a seven-story, 50-unit rental building at 66 Ainslie Street.

Of the ten units set aside for affordable housing in the building, two are studios and eight are one-bedroom apartments.

Rentals in the lottery are $833 a month for a studio and $895 for a one bedroom. Eligible applicants will have to make between $30,466 and $38,100 for the studio apartments, and $32,640 and $43,500 for the one bedroom apartments. The rents are set at 60 percent of the average median income in the area.

While it make look like a new building, technically it is the conversion and expansion of an existing one-story industrial building.

Slate is the developer behind a number of Brooklyn properties, including Dumbo’s 51 Jay Street and Aufgang also has a footprint in Brooklyn, notably at 200 Water Street.

The building is just a block from the G train and within walking distance of the L, M, J and Z trains.

The lottery opens today, April 20, and runs through May 11. For more information on the lottery and how to apply, visit NYC Housing Connect. For tips on how to apply, read our Brownstoner guide.
