A nonprofit that specializes in affordable housing recently filed new building applications for a seven-story, 35-unit apartment building at 1552 Bergen Street near Utica Avenue in Crown Heights. There will also be a community center on the ground floor with a large meeting space, fitness center, lounges and a computer room/library, the developer told us. Concern for Independent Living, which focuses on building housing for low-income and disabled people, bought the sizable property for $3,525,000 at the end of July, according to PropertyShark. The 23,650-square-foot lot is currently home to a red-brick factory building, which will be demolished soon, according to the developer. GMAP
