The Boston-based development group Davis Companies picked up a big parcel near the Greenpoint waterfront. For $5,207,000 they got 93-107 West Street, basically the entire empty plot on West Street between Kent Street and Greenpoint Avenue. There isn’t much info out there about the site itself, except that it was used as a construction material storage yard and was once a brownfield. The site’s been empty for years now. It’s currently zoned as non-residential land so the developers couldn’t build housing on it without requesting a zoning change. It is, however, very close to the Pencil Factory Lofts and the newly opened Transmitter Park so maybe plans for development are imminent. GMAP
