Women-Owned Bike Shop Open on Fulton St.

Bicycle Roots, a new women-owned bike shop, had a very, very soft opening yesterday on Fulton Street between Classon and Franklin. The store isn’t ready for tenants yet so Bicycle Roots is doing sales and repairs right outside. They don’t have a set date to move indoors, but the website says June. Besides repairs, they will also sell bikes and equipment. According to Facebook, the sidewalk sale was closed today due to crummy weather. GMAP

  • I like this feature. In the future can you please indicate the sex of the owner of each of the businesses you post?

  • Just two blocks down from the up-and-running new Fulton Bikes. Are bike stores becoming the new Starbucks/Duane Reade/Chase?

  • listing the owners sexual preference and/or any deviant behavior might generate more buzz for the blog.

  • what i find interesting about bike shops is whether a pro, or former racer, works there; i.e. someone who knows what their talking about. sex or sexual preference? for a bike shop? lol.

also, it would be nice to know if any have teams/clubs associated with them.

    • Hey cp. Here’s what you need to know about the owner and the employees of our store- We’re all bike commuters. We make it a point to ride everywhere we go, in all weather. Between the five of us we also represent messengers, road racers, MTB racers, cyclocross racers, BMX riders. And we’ve got over 60 years combined experience in the bike industry. So even though the store is just getting off the ground, if you stop by you’ll definitely find someone knowledgable to talk to to.

No teams yet, but it’s coming.

  • This is kind of insulting. It would sound ridiculous to refer to a business as “male owned.” Wouldn’t it?
