The new development at the corner of Hicks and Lorraine streets in Red Hook has been notable more for what wasn’t known about it than what was: Construction has taken a few years and the project seemed stalled for a while last year. At the same time, there was no marketing to speak of, and hence no sense of whether it was a rental, condo or even affordable housing. All of a sudden, though, units in 832-834 Hicks Street and 80-84 Lorraine Street have hit the market, all priced under $500,000. Most of the units available are 906-square-feet two-bedrooms listed for $325,000. There are also a few larger two-bedrooms for sale that cost between $399,000 and $475,000, and a couple three-bedrooms asking $499,000. Click through for some of the interior shots included in the listings for the $325,000 units. The big question with this one is whether the building’s location, directly across the street from the projects, is going to be a deal-breaker for a lot of prospective buyers.

Those bad old days could return and the last place you would want to live in the city when that happens is next to a project.
