Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill
Pardon Me for Asking reports Mexican joint Diego, at Smith and Union, closed after less than a year. As PMFA says: “With or without the involvement of a top chef, one has to wonder why all three restaurants that have opened in that space in the last few years (Sonny’s, Union Smith Cafe and now Diego’s) have failed, despite such a great corner location.” She also wonders if the old Joe’s Superette on Smith Street is slated to become a Greek eatery. BoCoCa Land reviews newly-opened Sadie’s Kitchen and Realty Collective writes a piano music store just opened up at 177 Smith Street.

Williamsburg
Gothamist posts pictures of new midwestern-themed bar Burnside Brooklyn. Brooklyn Paper profiles the New York Distilling Company, open at 405 Leonard Street. Dive bar Turkey Nest’s Tavern reopened after a DOE closure, says Eater. Here’s Williamsburg writes that Gimme! Coffee is open, Colador Cafe is closed, a Mediterranean restaurant is coming soon to Grand and a fish fry joint may replace a shuttered pizza joint on Havemeyer.

Park Slope
Szechuan Garden will open soon between 15th and Windsor. Here’s Park Slope checks out the menu and notes “there’s a rather extensive selection of authentic Szechuan dishes.” A pizza place called Sebastiano’s is opening in the South Slope. Konditori, the Swedish-style coffee shop on 5th Avenue, is expanding onto 7th. Finally, 161 Wine Bar, an underwhleming spot at Seventh and Garfield, is closed.

Elsewhere
O’Crepes is leaving Dumbo and moving to Brooklyn Bridge Park. Grub Street profiles oyster bar The Crown Inn, now open on Franklin in Crown Heights. Toukouleur, the French-African restaurant on Bedford, has reopened with a swanky renovation in Bed Stuy. A Citi Bank is moving to Brighton Beach Avenue. And now you can eat pizza out of a cone in Bensonhurst.
