After a confusing, long-winded discussion about the ambiguities of the upstate New York tax situation, nothing tends to cleanse the palate more than looking at some rental properties. We know; we’ve been looking at them a lot lately. Perhaps it’s our fear of commitment, but there’s something about finding a lovely, well-appointed rental that fulfills not only our desire to look at cool houses, but satisfies the interior design nerd part of our brain, as well. The four we chose today span from Ulster County all the way down to Rockland County, and they are oh-so-easy on the eyes, some with Hudson River views, and some located out in the country for the privacy junkies among us.

There aren’t a whole lot of interior shots of this Adirondack-style retreat house in the pretty Putnam County hamlet of Garrison, but it truly doesn’t matter. We love the greenhouse space, the pond, and the eclectic mix of styles on display here. We adore its exterior asymmetry, and the interior is something else, too. Check out the kitchen (which includes a pizza oven) and all the windows in the living room area. Lot size is nearly an acre.
