Mega Yard Sale on Clinton Avenue Last Saturday
On Saturday, Clinton Avenue was lined with people selling all sorts of food, trinkets and old junk. Other than the food we didn’t see much worth stopping for but the mood was festive and the weather was fantastic, so we’re not complaining. Other than the food we didn’t see much worth stopping for but the mood was festive and the weather was fantastic, so we’re not complaining. We did find out that the annual event is organized by someone named Florence who lives in the Clinton Hill Co-ops.
Well, I was out there selling my “junk” and made $200 off of it. Florence did a wonderful job organizing the event and I was told had to turn people away because of space constraints. I will be out there again if she decides to organize another.

anon 5-10-06 10:10am- so you had a good day then. Got to laugh, look at all the silly people and feel superior. And isn’t it nice- you only get to do it once a year?
i don’t need to be smokin anything my friends. i think it’s hysterical how the same junk changes hands year after year. everyone who bought the junk this year will be out there next year selling it. the funny think is watching people buying their original junk back! and as far as the food goes, yeah, i want a piece of red velvet cake that has been sitting out in the sun for 4 hours. please.
Yah a brownstoner stoop sale. This way all the bizarre people who spend their lives on it can finally be outed.
Would be great fun to do a brownstoner stoop sale or brownstoner fair.
I love stoop sales, keep em coming!
oh ya gotta get there early. we scored a pile o cocktailiana for a fraction of what you’d pay almost anywhere else — like, a dollar an item for for stuff you’d pay 40 or 50 for at a hipster-aimed vintage purveyor. all before 10:15 in the morning. and even i was behind the chick who actually owns a vintage store, who was scooping stuff up for her 40% markup no doubt.
man i love stoop/garage sales!! i wish i known about this one.
