On late Friday afternoon, Brownstoner.com hit a pretty major milestone: Roughly five and a half years after launching, the homepage of Brownstoner received its 500,000th comment! Insane? Yes. Gratifying? Totally. Some other stats: In addition to the 500,000 comments, the main section of the site has had over 17,000 editorial posts, while the Forum has racked up 21,000 posts and over 138,000 comments. (For those who care about the inside baseball, it looks like CobbleHiller placed the 500,00th comment.) Thanks for playing along!

  1. And, PS, Mr. B, speaking of “inside baseball”, how many total OT posts have there been since inception? AND, for extra points, how many quasi-OT posts were there, before the OT, when the PLUSAs hijacked an otherwise quiet thread?

  2. OMG.

I want to thank g*d, my family, my broker, my accountant, the mailman, the dry cleaners, and all the little people that made this unbelievably momentous moment possible.

(Snappy is going to KILL me.)

  3. The competition was fixed! The jury was bribed! First, Mr. B awards her best Brownstoner tee at Noki. B. He “gives” her the 500,000th post! Outrageous! I want my money back!
