An open call has been announced for submissions to the 2013 Queens World Film Festival. You can submit your film here.

The mission of the Queens World Film Festival (QWFF) is to screen “challenging films from around the world and around the corner.” Categories for submission are Animation (under 25 minutes), Documentary, Narrative (shorts, and features over 50 minutes; longer animated and LBGT films can be entered in this category, too), and LGBT (any form or genre, under 25 minutes).

This weekend, spend time in Long Island City and Flushing to see ordinary objects transformed into art, shop in a forest of teddy bears, dance on a rooftop hotel, and play with the process of animation!

Waste Diversions Sculpture and Collage From New York’s Waste Stream – This installation at the Materials for the Arts gallery in Long Island City uses unneeded objects from businesses and individuals, and transforms these items into sculptures and collages. It is fascinating to see items we don’t give a second thought to, transformed into art.
