There’s a new neighbor in Bed Stuy — Douglas Elliman, with an office now open on Malcolm X Boulevard.

By expanding their presence in Brooklyn (they’re in Williamsburg, Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn Heights, Fort Greene, Park Slope, and Ditmas Park), Elliman can nurture relationships with long-standing customers — customers since their first rental — who now want to live in Bed Stuy.

“Right now, Bed Stuy is about size and affordability,” says Max Dobens, senior regional executive manager of sales, Brooklyn at Elliman. “People in Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, and other neighborhoods are selling the apartments they bought five or seven years ago and they’re getting a really cool space, maybe a townhouse, in Bed Stuy.”

Indeed, Bed Stuy’s leafy charm, 19th century architecture and amenities continue to draw buyers. “International cuisine at restaurants such as Chez Oskar, Nana Ramen, Sonora and Grandchamps continues to add to the character of the neighborhood,” says Pablo Cuevas, licensed associate real estate broker.

“Bedford Stuyvesant is truly a special neighborhood with a rich culture and a sense of community unlike any I have experienced in Brooklyn,” says Aubrey Borrell, a licensed real estate salesperson who moved to the neighborhood last summer. “It’s become my sanctuary from city life.”

Of course, there are plenty of sellers in the neighborhood, too, and with expectations of a busy office at 306A Malcolm X Boulevard, Elliman says they’re looking forward to getting to know their neighbors.
