pollstation1.jpgSpeaking of politics…While New Yorkers won’t weigh in on the presidential race officially for about another month, we thought the occasion of today’s New Hampshire primary would be a good opportunity to see which way Brooklynites (or a certain blog-reading subsection, at least) were leaning. Please take the five-question Democratic Primary Poll on the link. The polls will close at 8 o’clock tonight and we’ll have the results for you in the morning. In the meantime, any predictions for how the real primary will go today?

  1. To 2:01 – Dude, I did not say Bush is a good president. I said being elected and re-elected as governor of Texas qualifies you to be president. Being a back-bencher state senator and thinking your qualified to be president after one year in the US Senate does not. Get the difference?

And JFK was elected to Congress in 1947. He was in office for 12 years!

  2. Obama has been an elected official since 1997, Hillary since 2000? I don’t get this experience talk? I value Obama’s experience as a community organizer and civil rights attorney way more than I value Clinton’s experience as a … wife.

  3. Blaming Vietnam on Eisenhower? That’s rich.

Who warned against the military-industrial complex? Who coined the term?

Did you even read his farewell speech?

Hey Polemicist i think you have a ‘Hard On’ for me now but to answer you. Eisenhower knew what was coming to the pike for America. America was a superpower and the worlds policeman. between then and now you had about 9 wars and God knows how many covert ones. War is where the “Big Boys” make money and they don’t give a fuck about us. Now go away and take your meds.

    The What

Someday this war is gonna end….

  4. “Montrose, a candidate’s looks and their name (ie: Clinton, Bush) are the second and third most important things to being elected. Only money comes first, Something btw, that JFK did not lack.”

It must be a slow day at the office. Maybe you should spend that excess time going back to school for a degree. I agree with the other poster, you picked the wrong opponent to go up against. Say something intelligent and rational, or stop posting. Here’s a tip: good rebuttals are the key to a good debate.

  5. Bloomberg would be my #1 but it is impossible for an independent to win…so

I just don’t think Obama is really ready – I kinda think Hillary is right, that is very easy to talk of “change” but actually getting something done is whole different can of worms (see Elliot Spitzer), and frankly while its nice to think that he could rally the world to a more cooperative less antagonistic relationship – I’m afraid that there really are ‘evil doers’ out there who really only see strength and weakness.

I thought Hillary might be ok, but now I am seeing even if she governed in a moderate way, too many people hate her (on some principal I dont get) and wont let her do anything (see Elliot Spitzer)

So I think I am rooting for McCain – sure he does have some of that conservative B.S. in him – anti-abortion etc…. but he is very fiscally conservative and is mostly a pragmatist looking to get good outcomes (see immigration, campaign finance reform, and stem cell research). And on the war, he has stuck to his principals (send more troops) even when it is/was very unpopular and it appears he was right (even if your pissed we were lied to – it is better to win then lose).

Rudy doesnt have the temperament; Huckabee doesnt believe in evolution (and tons more, but why go further then that), and Roomney is a total phoney.

I can live with McCain so right now – I’m pulling for him.

  6. Montrose, a candidate’s looks and their name (ie: Clinton, Bush) are the second and third most important things to being elected. Only money comes first, Something btw, that JFK did not lack.

Monti, you seem a little ivory-tower.
Are you a college prof? you sound like someone with only a glancing familiarity with the realities of American society and and culture.
