This was a first for us: En route to the office this morning we encountered actual congestion in the bike lane along Navy Street, though the strikingly homogeneous group of riders remained quite civil as they pulled up to the intersection and waited, law-abidingly, for the light to turn green. As we approached Sands Street, everyone else made a left towards the Manhattan Bridge as we continued on towards Dumbo.
“Just get a vespa. No one seems to give a rats ass about motorcycles.”
Cars are even more aggressive with scooters! I witnessed the aftermath of an accident on the Williamsburg Bridge (on the J train) – apparently a car was tailgating a vespa – vespa had to slow down, car didn’t – splat.
11217 – why you getting at me so much?
anywhoooo
tyburg6 – that’s true about walkers – man oh man I am a fast walker so get out of my way when I am coming through! – haaaaaaaaaa
…”what Gross says is 100% true. True voice of reason on this thread.”
Nice!
by the way, don’t ever see the headline “Old Woman Killed by Cyclist.” on the weekly carnage.

My post was really not serious. Did I need to put smiley faces?”
Huh? Do you mean that you don’t seriously intend to drive your car on the sidewalk. No sh*t. I seriously don’t own an 18-wheeler either.
Jester… come on.
I honestly cannot think of an instance where a bike would be at a high speed and a pedestrian would be in their path… ya know, if the PEDESTRIAN wasn’t in the wrong. If there’s a green light, why is the pedestrian anywhere near traffic?
Yes, a bike going 15 mph (quite fast for a bike) is going to hurt. And knock you on your ass — AND the cyclist will probably be thrown too. There’s the rub. A car going 15 mph; hitting a person. NOTHING happens to the car… but the pedestrian or bike is a rumpled pile of flesh.
It’s a HUGE qualitative difference.
Just get a vespa. No one seems to give a rats ass about motorcycles.
depends on the type of stroller.
I take this route every day. There are clearly MORE BIKES than cars on sand street at rush hour.
DIBS – “This is an outlier, not the norm”. As usual, your analysis is clouded by presumption and not actual observation.
“Yes, and you can drown in less than one inch of water too, but it’s unlikely to happen. Let’s please talk probabilities and reality here.”
This probability argument could segue into an argument about how East New York is no worse than Park Slope for crime because crime can happen anywhere.
