  1. Yes, these are cheaper than buying an equivalent space and carrying a mortgage plus maintenance, but what a bunch of depressing dumps!

    Listings like these are the prime argument for buying vs. renting.

    Where? I’ve been looking and haven’t found anything unless it’s below 12th street…

    I’d love to know. Lots of us artists and creative people prefer Park Slope because the cheaper rents you speak of. I just haven’t found any yet.

  3. Smith Street is a joke.

    In the past year, 5th has FAR outpaced Smith in terms of new and interesting retail and restaurants.

    Last week, I counted 11 abandonded storefronts on Smith in as many blocks. Has ANYTHING opened there this past year?

    Something is opening on 5th at LEAST once a week.
