This one-bedroom Williamsburg rental comes from the previously troubled development known as Warehouse 11 at 214 North 11th Street. After avoiding foreclosure and slashing prices, the developer ended up moving a bunch of apartments; in fact, as of last week, 30 units had closed. But you don’t have to come up with a downpayment to live here, it turns out: One of the units just became available for rent on Aptsandlofts.com, which makes us think it’s being rented out by one of the folks who just closed. The asking price is $2,500 a month, which doesn’t seem out of line for a “brand new never lived in” one-bedroom so close to Williamsburg Ground Zero.

  1. the oil thing is an urban myth. seriously.
i fail to see how some old oil containers that were removed from the ground are going to affect anyone.
i went on a tour of it when it originally was up with a friend who was looking, and it’s flat out very nice.
the developers problems are indeed a sh*t show. that’s true. what a rental is a no brainer.
i did meet a guy in a meeting who bought a penthouse (married with kids), and he was pretty happy about the price because it’s a good deal for a lot of space and great views and outdoor space.
clearly not a brownstoner bldg, but if priced right, will sell and rentals are cake.
tyburg – i’ll see what i can do.

  2. I don’t know, but I think Thad is kinda hot. Of course, I’d have to see a full body shot to be sure. 🙂

“You’d be better off living by Radiac.”–LMAO! A “chernobyl-themed cocktail bar”–you guys are priceless!

  3. “You’d be better off living by Radiac.”

Heather, you know one day someone is going to turn that building into an ironically chernobyl-themed cocktail bar / farm-to-table hipster restaurant. I can’t wait.

  4. There was a reason that area wasn’t developed long ago, and the charm of living on a brownfield is severely offset by paying market NYC rent to live on said brownfield. Look, I am fond of Williamsburg, but environmentally, this specific corner of it is a disaster. You’d be better off living by Radiac.
