The listing for this loft at 738 Grand Street says it’s “raw,” and it does sport concrete floors, exposed brick and 14-foot ceilings. However, a bedroom and kitchen space have been carved out. There’s a private roof space, too. There aren’t enough pictures to make a judgment on the size, but it’s listed as 1,250 square feet. The rent is $2,700. Thoughts? Update: This is a commercial lease that can be used as a live/work space.

  1. nothing would have made me happier when I was in my 20’s than having my car in my living room. It was my baby. And by far my biggest investment. I worried about leaving it outside all by itself.
    Especially in those days!!!

    Brokers should have an obligation to inform (if) this place doesn’t have a legal C of O (IMO)

    usually these commercial spaces are rented directly from the landlord.

  3. Tybur, they’re renting the back half, so no bay door for you.
    It looks like a commercial warehouse divided into two “spaces,” which is to say you can’t legally live there, but who will find out? Unless there is a fire and someone dies, at which point the owner will get fined (or jail if a firefighter dies.) Thank goodness the broker will be fine regardless.

  4. If the roofdeck is nicely done and includes a barbecue grille and place for tables and chairs, I think this would make a great place to live for a while. I would have loved this place in my twenties, although I probably would not have been able to afford it.
