If you don’t mind the Flatbush location and need a lot of rooms, this three-bedroom at 2522 Bedford Avenue might be for you. Then again, if you like large rooms, it might not be. There are a ton of photos on the listing’s Facebook page, but none of them does a very good job of showing how big the rooms are. In the face of that, and judging from the photos that are there, we’re going to a venture a guess that they are on the small side. The pre-war rental is priced at $1475 – $1550 a month. (Why the spread? We have no idea.) Perhaps some Brooklyn College students will take the bait.

  1. I have rented apartments in this building and I can vouch for what prettyprewars says – the rooms are good sized, the renovations are good, if not fancy (no dishwashers), and the landlords are decent. Nice, devoted super.

Downside is this is a walk-up building, with no laundry, and it’s a bit of a hike to subways (Beverley Rd 2/5 is closest). Not a lot going on in the neighborhood, except very convenient to Sears.

    However, the price is right!

  2. Well, she also uses camera-phone pics instead of investing in a real camera.

Ya know, sometimes I think I got in the wrong line of work. I own a decent camera and have a grasp of English grammar (not this broker doesn’t, but most write incomprehensibly & hyperbolically & with great abuse of ALL CAPS). I could’ve made a killing!

  3. Hi Everyone, this is my listing, and I had no idea it was featured on until someone emailed me about it a few minutes ago.

Yes, that’s a dog. MY dog. I bring her on most appointments.

The rooms aren’t terribly small. In fact, most of my apartments are exceptionally large, but I’m using my iPhone and I don’t stretch my pictures like most brokers out there, so it’s difficult to capture the size accurately. This particular apartment has one large bedroom (will fit a king bed and other furniture) and two smaller bedrooms that will fit queen or full beds with other furniture. The downside is, there are no closets in any of the bedrooms. There is a hall closet right outside of the largest bedroom, though. For this price, I think the absence of closets is probably worth living with.

Here’s why there’s a range in rent: I offer low fee or no fee listings. Your choice. When you see a “no fee” apartment on Craigslist or wherever, it means the landlord is paying the broker fee. The landlord, in turn, hikes up the rent to cover the fee. Most brokers will not tell you this, but that’s the way it works. So this apartment is available for $1350 (the price was just lowered by the landlord) with a broker fee of $1000, or it’s available for $1500 with no broker fee. Your choice.

All of this is explained on my website: http://www.prettyprewars.com. Feel free to comment or send a message with any questions. We’re not trying to pull anything sketchy, we just operate differently, more transparently, and way more affordably than your average rental company. You can also take a look at my Facebook page, which has a ton of pictures for every apartment we list. Here’s the link: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Pretty-Prewars/103209186381541

  4. This would be a perfect spot for B’oner to store his stable of 20-something Midwestern intern writers who know absolutely nothing about the city they attempt to write about. Talented interns like EmilyNonko can continue to cut and paste links all day between servicing B’oner and his various perversions.

Oh wait, this is in Flatbush! A number of coloreds actually own their homes in that area and won’t be forced out quite as easily as they were in Clinton Hill by the B’oners of the world, who’ve chosen to delay their careers in finance for a few years. Delete this post, talented intern, asap!

  5. The spread is low fee vs. no fee. Pay the fee, get the cheaper rent. Not sure how “low” the fee is. Don’t understand how that even works, but all the apartments they advertise state this.
