Whole houses in the landmarked section of Prospect Lefferts Gardens don’t come up for rent all that often. Here’s one that’s available for $6,500 a month — without, presumably, the maintenance headaches of ownership.

Designed by architect Benjamin Driesler, the circa 1910 limestone row house at 209 Midwood Street has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and plenty of original details. Those include high ceilings, parquet floors with inlaid borders, a pier mirror, a stair hall with mantel and built-in bookcases, and an elaborate dining room with paneling and coffered ceiling.

The baths and kitchen are not recently updated but appear to be in good repair. The kitchen in particular has a lot of storage and counter space and a certain offhand charm. There is laundry in the finished basement, and gardens front and back.

Ian Parker of Corcoran has the listing, which doesn’t mention a dishwasher or central air. What do you think?
