4th-ave-roof-collapse-12-2010.jpg
Yesterday a reader sent in the photos above (click on ’em to enlarge) along with the following note: “I thought you might be interested in these pictures I took of the roof collapse [on Monday] at 305 2nd Street near 4th Avenue in Park Slope. This building is used as a warehouse and a parking garage; it was the parking garage portion where the roof collapse occurred….The building was clearly in bad condition prior to the blizzard, with cracks and buckled walls. FDNY, NYPD, Verizon, and National Grid were all on site yesterday and a big stretch of 4th Avenue was closed for most of [Monday].” As the Real Deal reported: “There were no injuries, but a spokesperson for DOB said the inspectors are currently investigating the cause of the incident…Flushing-based owner Garden Estates LLC, controlled by investor Itzhak Katan, was not immediately available for comment.”GMAP DOB

  1. I guess this will be razed and another high rise “fedders” special with ugly bricks and horrible windows will be built, all with an open concept kitchen with a breakfast bar….oh goodie goodie gumdrops, something original………….

  2. it’s all part of katan’s plan to build a matching monstrosity to his other fourth avenue marvels of architecture. he was stuck in a dispute with other owners of the site. now they’ll have to tear the whole thing down (they were waiting for the oollapse) and…presto…shitty new condo box.

    you read it here first.
