The top two floors at 33 Sterling Place would have originally contained bedrooms when the four-story house was built as a single-family (it now has two units). It retains its four original marble mantels as well as original moldings and attractive wood floors, including some wide planks in the hall. In the latter is a cranberry cut-glass skylight and stair with curved mahogany railing.

Set into the bed niche in what would have been the best front bedroom under an arch and plaster brackets is a modern kitchen with simple white cabinetry. It is open to the room beyond, which can work as a dining room or a combo living-dining area.

The rear room can be used as a bedroom or living room. Above are two more large bedrooms and a smaller bedroom, and each floor has a full bathroom.

The mostly white bathrooms have a mix of modern and classic vintage features, including white tile and Deco-era tubs. With 12 closets in the unit, there is no lack of storage space.

The washer/dryer is located in one of those closets in a bedroom on the top floor — convenient for families, although perhaps a bit awkward for roommates. The walkup also has a voice intercom, although the listing makes no mention of central air.
