You want to talk about overpriced houses…. There’s a house in the Slope asking something like $1.6m that is being billed as super fixed up with all high end features, but in actuality the owners installed linoleum all throughout the upstairs bedroom floor. Whassup with that?
The 72nd street house was just partially gutted and done on the cheap. Way overpriced.
Seems like bidding wars are the new sport for Warren Lewis- pricing cheap and getting activity- and making buyers nervous.
Roberta, I remember that block being nice as well. But Garfield between 6th and 7th was a nightmare even the early 80s. Farrell’s nasty bar was on the corner, and a big group of abandonned houses were on the north side of the street near 7th ave.
There was an article about a year ago with Lawrence Fishbourne (sp?) about growing up in PS in the 60s and 70s. He lived on either Garfield or Fiske/Polhemus and wasn’t allowed to Garfield below 7th. His “border” was Danny’s, the scuzzy candy shop where Fuji-San is now (or at least was until recently).
Hey, is that linoleum on the stairs at 86 Garfield?
I lived on the Park Slope block (Garfield between 5th and 6th) in the mid-80s. Even then, when “center slope” started at 7th Ave., it was a really nice block.
The Windsor Terrace house is on a nice block. I didn’t know they have 165′ deep lots! Only one bathroom… Heres comes another big renovation. If I had a time machine I would go back 12 years and buy it for $235,000
Why don’t you take out a loan, like everyone else
i want that park slope house. can someone please give me a million dollars? 😉
I would have expected a higher price on the Garfield house. The Windsor Place house gives off strong hints that it needs work.
