  1. Not my favorite area, either, DH. But, it is a short walk to the L train (and McCarren Park), and that part of WB has been getting more and more restaurants, bars, stores, etc. Not to mention some great old places to shop and eat – things like butchers, Italian coffee shops, and restaurants (Frost, for one).

  2. “Though Frost St. doesn’t look all that bad.”

for the most part – the residential blocks btw Grand and the BQE from Lorimer to Humboldt aren’t that bad. I miss it terribly over there. It’s 1,000x more livable than where I am now west of Bedford which is considered “prime” (barf)

  3. Yes, yes, yes, the three Ls of Williamsburg real estate: the L train, laxidasical residents, and laughable rents.

I mean, location, location, location.. sure. Though Frost St. doesn’t look all that bad.

And I live in an area surrounded by both brownstones and projects. I get by.

  4. All these houses are so typical of their kind.

Williamsburg = old wooden row house ruined by hideous 1950s renovation.

Bed Stuy = grand brownstone certainly not ruined by any means but with the completely typical Home Depot kitchen with 12-inch tan-color ceramic tiles.

    It’s the location.

which isn’t really fantastic (as far as WB goes) – i don’t like those blocks north of metro/ east of humboldt.

and everyone forgets there’s projects less than a block away!! gasp!!

  6. The Williamsburg house is typical for that area but the broker is just nuts if he thinks this house is anywhere near 2200 SF. It is two floors of less than 600 Sf each with a basement.
