the back yard suck on the Fort Greene house…$2.5 is a joke
Vanderbilt — WOW.
My parents live in a much nicer place across the street and charge something like 2100 for a gigantic floor through w/ washer dryer, garden, etc. Why people would pay 2MM when they can rent something escapes me.
I can remember watching people get beaten up in the lot next to this one. The B69 is pretty loud over there, and, apart from the G train, it isn’t exactly easy to get to.
many of the rental brownstone (floor-through) apartments in FG and CH are pushing and over $2000 at this point. it seems like these rents are only going up for the time being because it is an extremely tight rental maket and very few rental buildings are coming online. these apartments may be attractive to renters bc of their historical value, but because the neighborhoods themselves are attractive and the rental housing stock is primarily brownstone apartments.
agreed, 2:55. i bought a studio in the slope about 6 months ago, and two similar ones nearby have sold for literally 60K more than i bought mine for.
i simply got in at the last moment for anything to be affordable for my small budget.
i feel quite lucky.
I scan the price tags on that list & am completely blown away. Can I just say how grateful I am that my husband & I found a home we loved back in December. Unreal how expensive everything is now. Had we not found the house we bought we’d be renting forever at these prices. This market is wild.
RE: brownstones and renters.
I have 2 apartments rented out in my house and both tenants looked at several places before choosing the space(s). They each told me they did so because the apartment was so much better than anything else they had looked at. I think it had to do with the renovations more than it being a brownstone, but the backyard access doesn’t hurt.
South Slope one is zoned for PS124.
Good luck with that Cambrige Place one!
It’s a shoddy flip job and I can’t say that I would trust a new coat of paint to hold the house up for too long.
I’m not usually a negative nelly but I walk by that house all the time and any work I have seen done on it looks to be merely cosmetic. Maybe that’s all the work that was needed–but I doubt it.
And also: “Clinton Hills”-argh! So annoying.
