AY is going to affect the most hideously commercial part of BK. Who gives a f–k whether it gets built or not? If anything, it will make these places more valuable. Development in urban blight areas is good.
Why on earth would anyone invest in these homes when AY is going to render the entire neighborhood unendurable?
That Washington Place house on FG park is in contract. I wonder if they got their 3.6M
FG and CH are over? So many gorgeous rundown brownstones and mansions that need some serious money. I think what you’re seeing now is nothing — like someone said, the “enlightened rich” — but it’s gonna take some seriously straight-up stooopid money to lift this area back to the grandeur that its architecture represents. It might happen, but it will take LOTS more cash inflow. As an appreciator of beautiful buildings, I say, BRING THEM: the starlets and TV gay couples and traders. I don’t care what you look like or how much money you flash, just make some of these sad neglected buildings come back to life.
i personally would rather have the housing at 15th and 5th than live near the guy who posted “nut farm” above.
maybe thats just me.
great our tax dollars at work
I live in the South Slope and I’m not afraid of the housing coming on 15th and 5th. Calling it a “nut farm” is pretty insulting. We’re all better off allowing medicated mentally ill people to be part of a neighborhood community instead of shunting them off to hospitals, a big drain on our tax dollars. These people need a nice place to live, not your scorn.
yes, fg and ch are both OVER in terms of being choice nabes. those of us who have been here for more than 10 years can see the upper west side/park slope element that has seeped in (eww). that’s why everyone with any clue is moving up beyond pratt to grand ave and beyond. that’s the next big thing.
Too bad the place on 14th is close to the nut farm that is opening on 15th and 5th.
