While we weren’t thrilled with our photo (Mrs. B says it looks like we have a bunch of marbles in our mouth), we can’t complain about the exposure we got, along with four other real estate blogs, in yesterday’s New York Times. These kind of trend pieces are always tricky and a little bit of a stretch, but there wasn’t anything too cringe-worthy or off-the-mark in this one. (Interestingly, it didn’t result in much of an up-tick in visits to the site over the weekend; we witnessed the same non-effect when Brownstoner was the subject of a cover story in New York Magazine last spring. Our theory: Most people consume this type of media in the bathroom!) Because the story was reported six weeks ago, though, there was some information which was already a little outdated. Back then we were reporting that traffic and ad revenues were flat; since then, traffic has gone up considerably while ad revenues have fallen quite a bit. What did readers think of the article?

  1. I think benson’s remark rates one meow, snark. However 2 meows to BRG and c’hiller- and yes her head does fit through the door with a little help from the crowbar. I did sweep up the ashes of all the papers I bought up last night from the newstand. Let her go find the Times in Manhattan!

  2. Well, look who decided to make an entrance!! I guess you just finished eating your breakfast in bed served to you by your humble tenant, while reading today’s NYT and inquiring…WHAT?? No mention of me today!?!?!?

MM, at least thank us little people for offering our Congrat’s, Geez.

You take this to the Open Thread, you may get trashed…just a warning!

  3. Are you people kidding? WHOM do you think got the 12 am phone call letting them know which sainted poster was now the “oft-quoted in the NY Times” persona? Who had to listen to the crowing, the strutting, the ego-swelling, the triumphant beating of the chest (I bet that hurt)?

As I understand it, we are now only supposed to refer to MM as Montrose Morris, PEBA,Founder of the PBA Ass’n (a nonprofit 501c3 organization) and oft-quoted in the NY Times. The initials following MM’s name shall now be:
    PEBA,Pres. & Founder PEBA; OQNYT

    yeesh.
