Back at the end of last year, 277 Gold Street–the first of two new rental buildings built by the Lalezarian family at Gold and Tillary Streets in Downtown Brooklyn–ran into delays getting its C of O, resulting in frustrating delays for tenants who’d signed up for December move-in dates. (Ultimately tenants were able to move in in February.) Now that the sister building at 257 Gold Street is ready to go, similar C of O issues are creating problems again. According to a Brooklynian thread, a batch of renters was supposed to move in on September 1, but the developer is still waiting on sign-off from the Department of Buildings. The most hopeful estimate in the thread is for tomorrow, but another commenter who just signed a lease earlier this week got a start date of October 15. Tough luck for anyone trying to vacate another apartment, organizers movers, etc.

  1. Sorry, but it seems crazy not to blame the building owners for not getting their acts together — again.

    And maybe again, and again?

“My customer signed a lease in September for a move in starting October 1st and she still has not moved in yet! I have heard of other people who signed leases for 9/15 and haven’t move in either. Apparently there is no Certificate of Occupany for the building yet and the property managers keep bullshiting my customer and saying she can move in soon. They also promised to pay for a hotel if she wasn’t allowed to move in at the starting date of October 1st. They now say nothing was ever promised.”

  3. Not just the owners. BK DOB is worst in city, overwhelmed, disorganized, being watched by Inspector Generals, DA, etc.
Commissioner has not leeway, can’t do anything creative, so getting a C of O is nightmare for the any owner

Not just the developers fault, Mayor and his aides need to fix this what is taking so long….

  4. randolph…I don’t like the building either. I think they suck for what they’ve done. But, there’s plenty around the neighborhood. Too funny.

  5. All contracts are negotiable or just walk away. If you don’t have a contingency plan, that’s poor planning but a lack of C of O is a BIG red flag.

  6. i take that back, you aren’t even close to york.. i guess its jay st or dekalb Q/B??? i mean, there is NOTHING around there (not even McDonlads anymore)- where do you get a 6 pack at 10pm?

  7. who would want to live there anyway? i guess you are close enough to the york F train, but otherwise you are trapped in a maze of tillary, BQE and the worst that dumbo has to offer…
