Rental listings are now up for once-controversial Carroll Gardens development 360 Smith, with ten studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units priced from $2,075 to $7,200. But the bigger news is that the building is already 50 percent rented, according to Triumph Property Group, which is leasing the building. A broker from Triumph had this to say about reactions to the development: “In spite of the initial opposition from the community, the majority of the applications are from Carroll Gardens’ residents who watched the building go up from their nearby brownstones. Some who have come by the building and openly expressed that they expected to dislike the new construction, were pleasantly surprised with the gracious layouts and quality finishes.” So, Carroll Gardens residents, what do you think of the finished product?

  1. I have been warmly greeting these new renters from my 19th century garden brownstone with a housewarming gift of Esposito’s sopresseta and directing them to the classic speakeasies nearby

  2. That’s great for them that they already have rented out 50% of the building. What would be even greater for the whole community is if they would put some effort into finishing the subway entrance so people could actually use it. Entrance was supposed to be open nine months ago. Get it done already.

  3. fsrq – one building is not the problem, but a symptom of the problem. The fact that 360 Smith brought about a community wide debate about appropriate development, which led to a change in the zoning laws, is the only thing to be celebrated.

  4. “the majority of the applications are from Carroll Gardens’ residents”

Not surprising at all. If someone likes Carroll Gardens yet wants to live in a modern building with an elevator, there are not that many options.
