House of the Day: 707 East 21st Street

This house at 707 East 21st Street in South Midwood recently popped up in Brownstoner Marketplace (which, in case you haven’t checked recently, has 1,700 sales listings and 1,150 rental listings). The freestanding Victorian has a few aesthetic flourishes that we’re not in love with, but overall the house’s personality still appears to be dominated by the original architectural details, including some amazing wood fretwork, paneling and built-ins. The listing is priced at $799,000, reflecting the fact that this is generally the lower-rent portion of Victorian Flatbush. Still, there are some lovely houses around here and Brooklyn College is just a couple of blocks away. Thoughts?
