And on the inside, the place is dripping with original architectural details. Pretty darn impressive. The six-bedroom pad hit the market back in May with a price tag of $2,999,000 before getting reduced to $2,799,000 in early October. Has anyone been inside this place?

Dude, well we can put it another way: why do I pay more real estate taxes on my co-op that is a fraction of the size than these owners will?
by the way this is NOT in Kensington. It’s Victorian Flatbush aka Flatbush.
“A house like this in NJ or Westchester would have taxes 8-10 times this.”
BS
here’s an bigger one costing 1.4 mil and 4 times the taxes. Not only you save on cash but also on tuition as irvington is a top school district in Westchester and therefore in US.
We have long established that the bubble has burst in Westchester, NJ, etc. and the deals are getting better and better. Brooklyn not so much.

Butterfly, people who can afford a place like this are coughing up more taxes than they would on property tax in the ‘burbs thanks to city income tax.
why are taxes on these 3 million dollar rich people mansions SO F’ING LOW? sooooo wrong. tax the people who can afford this house! they sure as hell can cough up some more money for taxes.

BoerumHill there are plenty of us around with 3 kids! Great house, heck if I could afford this, I’d have #4! I don’t profess to know much about houses in this price range, but $2.8 still seems pricey for this side of park.
Awesome! Wish there were pics of those bathrooms! Think of the parties you could have.
Its pretty. With this setup:
Rooms: 12.
Bedrooms: 6
Baths: 3.5
Would make a nice B&B.
I just don’t know anyone who needs that much. Most of our friends who stayed in Brooklyn or Manhattan have one child, as we do. We have a few friends with two. The ones with three have long ago moved to Dix Hills or Maplewood or whatevs. I’m 48 and I have a ton of acquaintances, and I don’t know a single family large enough to use this.
Wednesday night, after TSA completes its full cavity search, I’ll fly to my home state for the Holiday. I will run into all kinds of classmates and old friends with big families. And they’ll all shake their heads and ask me how I can live like that.
