18 Seeley Street has been on the market since the summer (when it was an Open House Pick) and just recently popped up in the Brownstoner Marketplace. Three months ago, the detached house had a price tag of $1,100,000; now it’s $1,025,000. We’re liking all the original details and the proximity to Prospect Park but could do without the kitchen cabs (though what else is new!). What do you make of it?

  1. Actually Ikea’s cabinets look better than those, or at a minimum more modern and contemporary. Those look like the standard generic home-depot kind of cabinets that people criticize. I personally don’t find them ugly, but I would agree they look plain or more like a landlord would put in a cheap renovation for a rental.

  2. Pfft

Six blocks to Marty’s house, e.g., wrong side of the highway.

Does anyone know just what kind of cabinets Mr. B does like? Dark wood is out, as is sleek modern. Today’s listing does have cheapish IKEA type units, but I’m at a loss to remember when he indicated a kitchen reno he did like…

  3. The price still needs to drop about another $150-200k.

Unless you drive everywhere, that location is kinda lousy. You have to cross the expressway to get to the subway, supermarket, etc.

  4. Good-looking place and a great block although I haven’t seen it. But asking over $1M for a not-huge house on this side of the Expressway, just off McDonald Ave? I have to think it will take a couple more price chops to move it.

  5. It’s not that close to Prospect Park – that’s Greenwood right next to it. I’m sure that is why it is still sitting, though I like it over on that side of Windsor Terrace too. Nice place.
