You could easily add a bathroom to this though. Since one bedroom is being used as an office/laundry room you could easily change that to a second bathroom. The plumbing is already there and judging by the size of it you could keep the washer/dryer in there in a pantry or closet.
What a gorgeous house. Looks Edwardian to me. The owners must be architects or employees at Martha Stewart.
MR also has a good point that some work is needed here to add another full bath somewhere (maybe the laundry room?)
astringer — The modest townhouses on Bedford (MKG has one asking $580K) are rather different from the Victorian standalone houses elsewhere in the nabe. Maybe not $270K different but still significantly so.
Oh, just had to add: I know the neighborhood well enough to say this is not a ghetto house. Using that kind of language is unhelpful and offensive.
Don’t know the nabe enough to comment on the price but I sure love the look of this joint. Great to see how the midcentury furniture “tames” and updates what can easily be the rather overwhelmingly fussy details and dark woodwork of these houses. And wow oh wow, that screen porch is a beaut! The mozzies in Brooklyn are the bane of summer in the city.
Considering that this house a block away that was HOTD 2 years ago sold for $481.000 in 02/09 ( http://bstoner.wpengine.com/brownstoner/archives/2008/09/house_of_the_da_570.php) , i doubt 621 E23rd will fetch as much.
Great ghetto house but $500K nice , not $875K nice!
To those who know the neighborhood, how much does the lack of a garage affect the value?
Nice, but 5 bedrooms sharing a single bathroom is tough.
