OMG this place is awesome! This 1905 1889 Romanesque Revival house at 287 Dekalb Avenue has some of the sickest original detail we’ve ever seen in Clinton Hill. The house, which appears to have been in the same family for over three decades, was designed by Montrose Morris, we learned from the LPC designation report on the Clinton Hill Historic District. Here’s some more from that report: “Nos. 285-289 form one of the outstanding rows in Brooklyn…They were designed in such a way as to give the effect of one large mansion. The facades of these buildings display the textural and chromatic contrasts that are a hallmark of Romanesque Revival style buildings.” The asking price is $2,250,000. We are very jealous of whoever gets to buy this place!

  1. I made you look, DIBS! I know I know. Realized after I pressed “POST”. No HELOC. Court order supercedes lis pendens with “Creditor” and “Debtor” names.

    ***Bid half off peak comps***

  2. slopey…i suspect that’s what it is. it was in the name of two men who looked unrelated by name.

Sad if this is an estate and families are fighting over it because of no will or trust. There is a cort order dated 2010 that hands it over to a couple who are not of the same surname as either of the two men.

People…put your properties in Revocable trusts if you want to pass them on to someone unrelated like a partner!!!!!!

  3. Many reasons for lis pendens. Lis pendens is used for any any lawsuit potentially affecting title. Foreclosure is only one possibility. If mortgage is paid off, HELOC is unlikely to be so big as to put this place underwater. Easy to sell to cover debt, so it would not get to foreclosrue litigation. My guess is a family or estate dispute with more than one claiming ownership. Someone wants to sell another wants to keep, etc.

But if there is a lis pendens in effect now, easy enough to pull complaint from court and figure out what the deal is.
