This brownstone at 25 Polhemus Place in Park Slope just hit the market with an asking price of $2,375,000. The house, which is tucked into a charming one-block street that runs between Garfield Place and Carroll Street in the heart of the North Slope, has beaucoup original details, including an unusual center stair. We’re digging it. How ’bout you?

  1. tybur quote:
“(I’ve always thought the triangle north of Union Should be called something else since their slope doesn’t lead to a park…)”

    Triangle above Union Street; or
    Triangle north of Union Street

Tybur, maybe you can turn this into something like the
Triangle Below Canal Street (Tribeca). At this hour I am not coming up with much.

Or, how about Trinoslo, the “no” because it is “north” and also as you pointed out, there is *no* slope to the park there. Or, perhaps Trinosloka (the “k” for the K in “park”).

See I think you can do much better than this meager attempt.

  2. Its a beautiful house, and (except for the top floor) in wonderful original condition. However, this means that it is pretty impractical — including the individual sinks in each of the 3rd floor rooms, the original butler’s pantry (and sink) in the back of the parlor floor, the small, tight staircase down to the ground floor (which obviously was only intended for servants). How much work would it take to make it more livable for a 21st century family, and is there any way you could update the house without doing too much damage to the original details?

  3. With all due respect, Stargazer…you don’t seem to like much of anything.

Last week you complained because there weren’t enough living rooms and now it’s too many.

Do you EVER say anything which isn’t a complaint?
