This gorgeous Romanesque Revival house at 858 Carroll Street in Park Slope just hit the market with an asking price of $3,895,000. That’s a lot of dough even for prime Slope, but this place is five stories tall and more than 22 feet wide, so maybe it’s not out of the question. The house, which is just down the block from Prospect Park, has all of its original charm (though without many of the details of some of the nearby Victorian homes) and has also had a recent renovation; the kitchen in particular looks extremely well done. Well, how about it? Is this price possible?

  1. Not usually the envious type, but it really doesn’t get much better than this one in PS. Maybe that JCon spread, if you have some gilded age thing going. Otherwise, I think this is it.

Best to whoever ends up here.

  2. m4l — but who wants anything substantial on the garden level other than maybe a place to store bicycles and access to the cellar? In a five story this big (and maybe even a four) I’d rather have a rental and enjoy the floors with light.

  3. playroom! music room! how divine!

a pain in the ass to have the kitchen on a different floor than the dining room, but i suppose if you can afford this place you’re not cooking for your own dinner parties anyway.

whether it goes for $2.8million or $3.2million or $3.895million doesn’t matter to me. any way you cut it, it’s absolutely perfect for my fam and way too expensive.

  4. 22 foot wide house in this location and with recent reno – $3.5m not out of the question. DIBS – I tend to agree with you on the master suite. I think it’s a nice touch. Certainly at this price point I would want anything and everything just per my requirements. I’d be pretty confident this will be on the biggest sales soon enough. There is very little supply in this price range / location.
