House of the Day: 564 2nd Street
This new listing at 564 2nd Street is a goodie. It’s also a biggie. The Romanesque Revival house is five-stories tall, 23 feet wide and, on the bottom two floors, 65 feet deep. And, based upon the photos, the interior is magnificent, especially the original woodwork. The listing notes that the house could use some “updating,” but given the size and quality of the interiors, we bet that they’ll get pretty darn close to the asking price of $2,995,000.

BHS, that’s funny. We have a toilet like that in the back of our house off the mud room. It’s like an outhouse that came halfway in and then stopped. It’s kind of my favorite, sort of, except right now it is in extreme disrepair — no floor, no toilet. But I am looking forward to a wood floor, bead board, crazy wallpaper, and a gas light style sconce. Just like the porch toilets of my California youth.
$3M asking plus another 600K to make the place usable as a home – uhh no thanks
Mopar, anytime I see a room with just a toilet I get a little chill down my spine with images of some ancient crusty wooden seat from 1897. Probably the servants’ toilet. Maybe they’d take the chamber pots up there from the floor below to keep from trekking the stuff through the whole house, and not wanting to use Tybur6’s method.
But honestly, FIVE floors… I would never go up there. That’s just silly.
Yeah, after shelling out $2MM on the house, I’d force my kids to pee out of window – no renovations for a while! Except for that elevator thing (how else can one get to their bedroom when s/he are drunk?)
I know, BHS. I think they really sold out with that toilet on the top floor. Softies.
thanx for the education, never knew it.
there’s a toilet shown on the top floor.
whether it says W/C or WIC, it is where the WC needs to go.
