House of the Day: 317 Bainbridge Street
This house at 317 Bainbridge Street in Bedford Stuyvesant could use some TLC, as the listing puts it, but the 20-foot-wide brick has lots of original details to recommend it. This house at 317 Bainbridge Street in Bedford Stuyvesant could use some TLC, as the listing puts it, but the 20-foot-wide brick has lots of original details to recommend it. Unfortunately the English basement, which is currently unfinished, is a tough sell as usable space, given how sunken it is. If this were truly three stories of livable space the asking price of $680,000 would seem in the ballpark but given that there are really only two floors, we’re not so sure.

seems overpriced. especially when the house on stuyvesant (411?) which is much nicer and a prime stuy heights location, is priced below $600k right now and hasn’t sold. it is also 2 stories with english basement.
It seems amazingly overpriced. 2 stories plus English basement, needs work, across from high rises, I don’t get that price at all.
I vote for best candidate not to sell.
“1st Floor Has Access To Deck…”
Is that what you call it?
Don’t know the ‘hood, but the photo of the street does look interesting.
Minard, this one has no egress outside either the front or the back. It’s only accessible internally which I guess makes it unrentable as an individual space.
Under the stoop access usually means separately rentable.
This is the first time on brownstoner that an under-stoop basement level has not been described as a habitable full story.
In Park Slope it would be an architect-ready “first floor garden level”.
I live in a garden duplex with the lower level, like this one, having about 2′ – 3′ of window space above grade. Not ideal (and not possible to convert into a separate rental apartment), but works fine for rec room, office space, media room, guest room, as well as laundry, storage, etc.
I was wondering who would be first to spot that, Pigeon!!!!
The Streetview, I mean.
What is the exterior?
White brick?
Hmmm… not so pretty.
What is that large housing complex directly across the street? Public Housing?
